Sam formed Plain Clothes Theatre Productions in 2003 whilst living in London. Since then he has taken the company to Canada for two years, presenting shows in Vancouver and Toronto. As well as running Plain Clothes, Sam has recently directed for Theatre West, Bristol New Writing Company, Birdland Theatre, M. Rubinoff Productions and Paige 18 Productions.

As well as directing, Sam is an experienced dramaturg and has also worked as a graphic designer - creating publicity for all Plain Clothes' shows and a wide range of other companies in the UK and Canada. He also teaches a number of youth theatre classes in the Bristol area.

Sam graduated from Goldsmith's College in 2003 with an MA in Directing. He also trained at Dartington College of Arts, Totnes between 1995 and 1998.
